Scriptures for a broken heart

Writer: Crystal TorresCrystal Torres
When your heart is broken and it feels like it has shattered to a million little pieces, there is one truth you need to hold on to: God loves you unconditionally. And we can be for certain He will never leave us alone with a broken heart.

One of the biggest keys to receiving inner healing from damaged emotions is realizing that God is the source of our healing and deliverance! Here are a few scriptures to mediate on if you feel like your heart has been broken and you need that inner healing! Write them out, recite them over and over, post them on your mirror, memorize them and apply them to your heart.

  • Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

  • Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

  • Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord, because they have called you an outcast: ‘It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’

  • James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

  • Psalm 30:2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.

  • Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

  • Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

  • Psalm 51:6 Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.

  • Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
