Psalm 34:18 (MSG) If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; If you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.
Divorce can be a great loss and a very painful experience. It’s not only the death of a marriage, but the death of all the hopes and dreams that you thought would come to pass with the person that you thought would be with you forever. It can leave an unbearable impact on the lives of you and everyone around you. Believe me I know first-hand about divorce and the damage it can cause. My first marriage ended in divorce after ten years and it shattered my happily ever after!
For years I prayed that God would change my ex-husband so that our marriage could be restored. I was a wife, a mother, a Christian, willing to stay and keep her vows beside her husband, no matter what, but in the end, I lost the fight and the prison of his addiction won, and I was trapped in my own unforgiveness, pain, and brokenness. I had to remind myself that even though God hates divorces because of the pain and hurt it causes His children, He still loves divorced people.
If you are going through a divorce or a painful separation, just know that whatever is before you, God is already there and working it all out. Your pain will not go unnoticed with God. Believe me, He knows and He cares. Who would have ever known that my painful past would impact so many in my future? But God knew! And for that I give God praise and honor every single day!
