PART 5- WHO JESUS IS?  THE LORD

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?

Romans 10:9  If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Acts 2:36  "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah."

Acts 10:36  You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

The word “Lord” is the most frequently used title for Jesus Christ. God’s Word describes Jesus as the head of the church, the ruler over all creation, and the Lord of lords and King of kings.

Write out each Verse below:

Colossians 1:15-18

Revelation 3:14

Revelation 17:14

Jesus’ disciples called Him Teacher and Lord. John 13:13  “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am.  And the most important truth in relation to Christian experience is that Jesus Christ is Lord. And Jesus' reason for His redemptive work was that He would be Lord in the life of every single believer. And whether we recognise it or not, Jesus is still Lord, always has and always will be. God has constituted His Son “both Lord and Christ”. The Father has given to the Son absolute supremacy.

When we make Jesus Lord of our lives, we are implying that He has absolute ownership of our entire lives. He is the Lord of our lives. Which means we don’t belong to ourselves, but we are altogether His.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

So everything about us is no longer ours, but His. Our bodies, our talents, our loved ones, our careers, our money, everything about us and all that we have is His, because He is Lord over our lives.

Have you made Jesus Lord over your life? (Think about it before you answer)      YES or NO

Read Matthew 7:21 and ask yourself,  “Am I doing the will of the Father?”                YES or NO

Can you honestly say right now that Jesus is Lord over your life? And if you can’t that’s ok, we can pray and you can give Jesus permission to be Lord of your life today. Because for Jesus to be Lord of your life, He must be the ruler, the boss, the master of your entire life. He cannot be Lord over part of it— He must be given control of your entire life - your whole life.

When we do not restrict God from entering any part of our hearts and lives, we bring down every wall and barrier that the enemy tries to keep up in our lives.  That means that whatever God wants to do in and through us, no matter how uncomfortable it may be at the moment, He can trust us because He is Lord over our lives. You know that the happiest people I know put their entire lives and trust in God, knowing that wherever God is enthroned in their lives, no threat of hell can succeed against them.

JOURNALING QUESTIONS:

  • Are there any areas of your life that you have not submitted to Jesus as your Lord?

  • If so, what areas do you need God to become Lord over?

  • What is one thing that you know is hindering you from fully surrendering your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior?

  • Write down one or two steps that you can actively take to help you submit?

  • In what ways do you believe will change when you fully submit to Jesus as Lord?

  • Lordship begins in the heart. The starting point is acknowledging Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Which implies that Jesus is Lord over every area and aspect of your life. Remember, if Jesus is not Lord of ALL, He is not Lord at all. Today, make Jesus Christ Lord over your life!
